Filling your freezer with a Quarter or Half beef is an economical way to support our local farmers and eat locally. We would love to help you! 

The Beef that we offer for sale are raised in Guthrie County, Iowa and are Corn Fed. We also offer quarters of Grass Fed Beef on a seasonal basis as the grass in Iowa is definitely not green year round! A $200 deposit will be taken when you reserve your quarter of a beef and credited against your final bill at pickup. 

A quarter of a beef right now ranges from $900-$1,200. That cost mostly has to do with the market when we buy the animal and how much the animal weighs. The market price goes back to the farmer. We charge an additional processing fee of $1.35/lb to cut the animal up and process it to your specifications. 

A typical quarter of a beef weighs around 220 lbs on the rail (on the rail is butcher speak for: the weight of the animal after it is harvested with all of the bones, fat, and edible organs attached. This is the weight that the farmer gets paid for). You will generally take home 120-140 lbs of meat on a quarter beef depending on how much fat you want us to leave in your hamburger.

A breakdown of pricing on a typical quarter is: 

Cost of animal (paid back to the farmer) ........220 lb x $3.10 = $682

Processing Cost ..............................................220 lb x $1.35 = $297 

Slaughter and transport Fee ..........................$37.50 

Vacuum Sealing all of the Meat ......................$15 per quarter

TOTAL: $1,031.50 

Additional items can be made from your beef including Patties, Snack Sticks, Summer Sausage, and Beef Jerky. Please refer to the deer processing page for pricing on those options. 

There is no set way that we cut a quarter or half of a beef. We will work directly with you either in person or over the phone to get your cutting instruction and make sure that we process your order in the way that is most helpful for you and your family.
